About Devon Home Care

Devon Home Care is a privately owned limited company which has been providing personal and domestic care services for people in their own homes in Torbay and Teignbridge for over 20 years.

Our home care services include personal care, domestic support, practical care, shopping, pension collection, overnight care – both awake and sleeping and call care. We provide our home care  to an increasing range of private clients, but also to the Social Services of Devon County Council, Teignbridge Council, Torbay Council and the local Healthcare Trusts.

Our mission is simply to be the first choice provider of home care in Torbay and Teignbridge by offering a reliable, professional, quality service which always meets, and we hope exceeds, our customer’s expectations.

What to expect

You should expect us to provide the best possible home care services at all times to all of our clients and to be at the forefront in maintaining, improving and developing our services to meet the needs and requirements of our clients, our carers and the regulatory authorities. You should expect us to ensure that our clients have their privacy, dignity and independence respected at all times, that they have appropriate information about their care provided, and that they are involved wherever possible in decisions about their care.

What happens next

When we receive your enquiry we will ask you for as much information as possible to enable us to assess your general care needs. There is no charge or obligation for this first home visit, but we will want to provide what is called a Home Care Assessment evaluation. This will help us put together your Care Plan and when you are happy with it, we will ask you to sign a contract which refers to this Care Plan and sets out the fees we charge for our services.

How we work

We provide a Report Book to record what has been done on each visit, and to record any matters that might need to be noted by anyone concerned with your care. Our carers complete that book each time they visit too. By the nature of the services we provide our Carers know that they will have to perform a wide range of duties, sometimes in difficult and challenging circumstances, but we are confident that they perform their duties well.

All our carers are experienced and qualified and all are subject to a careful recruitment and vetting procedure including DBS clearance. Our Carers are employees of the company, rather than agency personnel. They are also subject to regular appraisals and supervision visits during their working times. When they visit your home, our Carers will be wearing the company’s uniform and carry an identity badge with a current photograph. They are required to produce that identification before being given access to your home.
